China Unfazed by Trump’s Tariff Escalation

China has responded to President Trump’s latest tariffs by announcing a 125% tariff on all American goods. Victor Zhikai Gao, vice president of the Beijing-based Center for China and Globalization, stated, ’We don’t care! China has been here for 5,000 years. Most of the time, there was no U.S., and we survived.’ Gao added that if the United States wants to bully China, they will deal with a situation without the United States and expect to survive for another 5,000 years. The retaliatory tariff hike came shortly after Trump raised tariffs on Chinese imports to 145%, escalating the already tense trade conflict between the two global superpowers.
